HMRC records eight percent drop in tax revenue

HMRC collected £584.3 billion in taxes in 2020 to 2021, a decrease of 7.8 percent (£49 billion) from the year before.

This fall was despite a 4 percent rise in IHT tax take to £5.3 billion and slight rises in revenue from income tax, national insurance and capital gains tax (up to £352.1 billion).
