HMRC has appointed Alan Evans as its new general counsel and solicitor, following Gill Aitken’s decision to leave HMRC to take up a new role as Registrar at the University of Oxford in June.

Mr Evans currently works as the legal director at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. His career spans almost 30 years, holding various roles including: in the City, at the European Commission, and across a number of government departments.
