HMRC reported total tax revenue of £627.9 billion in 2018-19, an increase of £22.1 billion on 2017-18, according to the National Audit Office (NAO).
This figure included £145.7 billion of tax liabilities which had not been paid by 31 March 2019, although the majority of this amount was not overdue for payment at that date.
Additionally, HMRC estimated its tax compliance activities in 2018-19 brought in £34.1 billion, against a target of £30.0 billion.
