HMRC received £1.9 billion from investigations into wealthy individuals in 2018/19.
According to law firm Pinsent Masons, this is a 58 percent increase from the £1.2 billion received the previous year.
HMRC has increased the amount of data it holds on wealthy individuals due to global data sharing agreements, which has helped it to identify cases and complete investigations more quickly. This has led to an increase in the amount of extra tax collected from its compliance activities.
