Isle of Man given under a year to amend money laundering legislation

The Isle of Man’s Department of Home Affairs has issued a draft Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (Amendment) Code 2018 following a critical report from MONEYVAL. 

The proposals set out in the draft amendment Code will give effect to recommendations made in the Mutual Evaluation Report issued by MONEYVAL following its fifth round mutual evaluation of the Isle of Man. The report stated that the jurisdiction has until only July 2019 to amend its money laundering legislation.
