Jersey to update succession laws
Paul Harben, who is partner in charge of the probate department at Crill Canavan, said that the changes, which will be debated on 23 March, are a long overdue change and more will be needed if all the inconsistencies in the current law are to be removed.
He said that proper provision needs to be made for the dependants of a deceased person including unmarried partners and that the rights of widows and widowers must be equalised.
