It is not in the public’s interests for politicians, senior civil servants and those in similar positions of power to disclose their tax returns, according to a survey by tax consultancy firm Gabelle LLP.
The survey found that almost three quarters (73 percent) of respondents, both individuals and businesses, believe that senior figures should not be expected to publicise their accounts.
The survey follows the unprecedented steps taken by David Cameron and a number of high profile politicians who published their tax returns following the noise around the Panama papers.
