The House of Commons Treasury Committee has published a report in which they call for a systematic review of the cost of all tax reliefs.

The Chartered Institute of Taxation contributed written evidence to the report, which criticised the government for introducing new reliefs, but failing to remove those that are “redundant”.

This goes against the government’s aim to simplify the tax system, the committee argued.
