Four prominent family lawyers – who are dual trained in psychotherapy - have joined forces to launch The Mediation Space (TMS).
TMS is a non court family dispute resolution service, which offers a bespoke way of finding solutions to relationship and family breakdowns.
It describes itself as a “truly multi -disciplinary partnership”, having been founded by two barristers, a solicitor, and a psychotherapist respectively.
The four founding partners are: Jacqueline Marks; Susan Baldock; Christine Plews; and Rachel Chisholm.
Ms Marks is a family law barrister with over 30 years’ experience, currently practicing from Coram Chambers.
She has been sitting as a Deputy District Judge since 2003, having been appointed to the PRFD. She sits regularly in the Financial Remedies Court. In 2020 she obtained a post graduate diploma in psychodynamic psychotherapy at The Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust.
Meanwhile, Ms Baldock practiced family law as a barrister for over 20 years with a particular interest in complex public law cases. She was appointed as a Deputy District Judge at the PRFD in 2003. She has trained as a mediator.
Ms Baldock now works as an accredited psychodynamic psychotherapist. She has obtained an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy.
With over 30 years’ experience, Ms Plews was a partner at Blake Morgan solicitors in Oxford until 2019. Now a consultant, she concentrates upon her work as an accredited mediator and is well regarded in this field.
In 2018 Ms Plews obtained a post graduate certificate in psychodynamic counselling from Oxford University and she has completed a course in systemic couple and family therapy.
Finally, Ms Chisholm is a barrister with over 10 years’ experience. She currently practices from 4 Paper Buildings.
Ms Chisholm specialises in financial disputes and private law children. In 2020 she obtained a Masters in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the Tavistock and Portman NHS Trust.
She is a Resolution trained mediator.
TMS is currently applying for accreditation by the Bar Standards Board. His Honour Judge Hess has already endorsed the service.
