Panama questions validity of standards demanded by the OECD

The Panamanian government has accused the OECD and similar bodies of flouting international law as a result of international standards on tax transparency jurisdictions are obliged to adhere to.

In a letter – seen by eprivateclient – sent to the Secretary General of the OECD, Angel Gurria, a US law firm representing the Panamanian government has questioned the validity of these “international ‘standards’” demanded of jurisdictions by intra-governmental bodies such as the OECD, FATF and EU.
