A quick look at what’s been going on in North America.

The number of Canadian records shared with US tax authorities under the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) has increased significantly in the 2018 tax year, according to media reports.

In 2018 the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) sent 900,000 records of Canadian residents to the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS), taking the overall total up to 2.6 million records since information sharing between the two countries under FATCA began in 2014.
