Scotland's accountancy sector must tackle pre-existing headwinds, says recruiter

An Edinburgh-based accountancy recruiter has urged the industry to consider how it can best attract new talent and tackle pre-existing headwinds. 

Prior to the economic shock of Covid-19, a growing shortage of accountants in Scotland was reflected by newly-qualified practitioners breaking the £40,000 average salary ceiling for the first time, according to Edinburgh-based accountancy recruitment firm Core-Asset Consulting. Six-figure salaries were commonplace among experienced operators.
