Slavish adherence to ESG could lead to concerns about client transparency, James Quarmby warns

Speaking at a Guerney Finance Private Wealth Forum in London last month, high profile private wealth lawyer James Quarmby warned that slavish adherence to ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) could lead to concerns about client transparency.

Mr Quarmby said that sustainability will increasingly influence decisions on "how clients invest their money, the businesses they invest into, and what they will do afterwards." As a consequenice, Mr Quarmby said, "we need to be careful as an industry how we respond to ESG questions."
