Split values: Virus volatility poses extra challenge for divorcing couples

Attributing a value to assets has always been a challenge, but is “100 percent worse” in the current climate.

Katie Spooner, a family law partner at Winckworth Sherwood, explained this is a concern because divorcing couples need to attribute a value to all their assets, regardless of whether they are selling them or not.

Advisers and lawyers have always been wary of “risky assets”, but now most assets could be classed as such, Ms Spooner said.
