Despite being the UK managing partner at Rawlinson & Hunter and a partner at the firm for nearly 20 years, David Barker is not convinced that he has been on a leadership “journey”.
“I have certainly ended up in a leadership role but the means of getting there has not been particularly structured and there hasn’t been much theory of management applied in the process,” he told the audience at the ninth eprivateclient Leadership Insight Seminar.
Instead, much of his leadership technique evolved from experience and learning on the job from both mistakes and actions that have been well received.
