1. (27/04/2023) 

eprivateclient exclusively revealed that today (Tuesday 2 May) Nick Pheasey will succeed Greg Limb as head of family office & private client in the UK at Big Four advisory firm, KPMG.

A partner at the firm, Mr Pheasey has been at KPMG since 2002 and has specialised in private client tax matters throughout his career. He is based primarily in KPMG’s Manchester office but operates across the north of England, splitting his time between Manchester and Leeds.

He was named as KPMG’s head of private client advisory in the north of England in 2016 and featured in eprivateclient’s 50 Most Influential in 2017.

UK law firm Macfarlanes promoted eight to partner.

One of those was 2022 eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35 Alex Jones.

He advises international families, trustees and family offices on a broad range of cross-border structuring, estate planning, trust law and tax issues.

3. (18/04/2023) 

UK law firm Farrer & Co made up three of its solicitors to partner.

John Davies from the firm’s family team, Barbara Beasley in its commercial property department and Alice Yandle (employment) will all become partners from 1 May 2023.

In addition, the firm has also announced that Jane Randell (IP and commercial) and Lindsay Cunningham (residential real estate) will become senior counsel from 1 May.

Tax and advisory firm Blick Rothenberg appointed private business, technology, and financial services partners.

Alan Healy became a partner in the private business team, Nick Winters was hired to head up technology and Mark Eade became a partner in financial services.

5. (05/04/2023) 

Global trust and fiduciary services provider Intertrust Group made Lyndsey Adams head of its private client department in Jersey.

Before this new role, she was a director in the private wealth team for just over two years.

Ms Adams joined Intertrust in 2019 as an associate director and brought with her over 20 years’ experience working within private wealth.

6. (03/04/2023) 

International law firm Charles Russell Speechlys promoted 11 to senior associate, effective from 1 May 2023.

The newly promoted senior associates are drawn from the firm’s private client, private property, pro bono, corporate, commercial dispute resolution and corporate restructuring and insolvency teams and are based in the UK, Geneva, Bahrain and Hong Kong.

Within the firm’s private client offering, four have been promoted to senior associate with two based in Hong Kong and one each in Geneva and London.

Accountancy firm Saffery Champness promoted six directors to partner.

Casidhe Baleri trained and qualified at Saffery Champness in Bournemouth as a chartered accountant and later a chartered tax adviser.

Seb Cartwright is based in the London corporate finance team, working on transaction support and business advisory engagements across a range of sectors.

Hilary Clelland is based in Inverness, leading the delivery of corporation tax services to a diverse range of clients in and around the Highlands.

Sarah Donaghay leads the firm's outsourcing service line.

Kathy Johnson is a member of the firm’s sports & entertainment group, with 25 years’ experience advising some of the world’s highest profile entertainers and production companies, ensuring that they are compliant in terms of both tax and social security obligations.

Finally, Sean Watts is a corporate tax adviser with over two decades’ experience of advising businesses and their owners on their tax affairs across a wide variety of industry sectors.

International law firm Stephenson Harwood strengthened its global employment, pensions and private wealth (EPP) practice with the arrival of immigration lawyer Jessica Yu.

Ms Yu has joined the firm as a partner and head of immigration in its London office.

Her practice focuses on UK immigration and nationality advice, advising clients including HNW individuals and corporate entities.

9. (06/04/2023) 

International law firm Withers added to its newly expanded commercial real estate practice with the arrival of partner Owen Talfan Davies.

Mr Talfan Davies joined the firm from Fieldfisher, where he is a senior equity partner in the real estate disputes team.

He has over 20 years’ experience as a real estate litigation specialist, having worked at Ashurts prior to joining Fieldfisher. 

10. (19/04/2023)

Law firm Penningtons Manches Cooper made two partner promotions, Amy Fox and James Lewis.

Ms Fox - who specialises in family law, in particular complex financial disputes involving high value, multiple jurisdictional assets - joined the firm as an associate in 2008.

Mr Lewis, who joined the firm from Howard Kennedy in 2017, provides high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients with a broad range of private client advice.
