A rundown of the ten most read people moves to feature on eprivateclient in April 2022...

1. (25/04/2022) Specialist London family and private client firm Sinclair Gibson hired James Copson as a partner in its family law team. He joined the firm on 19 April 2022. Mr Copson joined Sinclair Gibson from Withers where he worked for over 32 years, having been made a partner in the family law team in 1998. 

 2. (28/04/2022) Trident Trust Group appointed industry veteran Norson Harris to lead its offices in Jersey and Guernsey. Based in Jersey, Mr Harris has more than 25 years’ experience in the global finance industry, including prior leadership roles with two international corporate and fiduciary service providers – TMF Group and Zedra.

3. (11/04/2022) UK wealth management and professional services group, Tilney Smith & Williamson, bolstered its private client tax senior team by appointing two new partners. Dominic Arnold has joined the firm’s London office and will specialise in dispute resolution, while Jodie Barwick-Bell will focus on Yorkshire and the North East of England market.

4. (05/04/2022) Charles Russell Speechlys appointed tax and trusts specialist Tom Henderson as its new head of trusts, responsible for the international law firm’s trust administration business. He joined Charles Russell Speechlys from Rawlinson & Hunter where he established the firm’s Zurich office and started its Swiss trust company. 

5. (22/04/2022) EY made ten internal promotions within its UK private tax team. The promotions saw Seun Adeyoola named as a director, Sabeen Hasan, Josh Lane and Claire White as senior managers, Jill Cruickshank, Laura Lee, Freya West, Tim Gould and Fiona Squire as managers and Mark Walker as a senior tax adviser.

(04/04/2022) Rothschild & Co hired private client heavyweight David Kilshaw as a managing director and head of private client wealth solutions, in a full-time role in its UK wealth management business. Mr Kilshaw has over 35 years’ experience of advising wealthy individuals, family offices and financial institutions and joins from Rawlinson & Hunter where he was a partner. Previously he had been head of private client tax at KPMG and head of family office at EY.

7. (07/04/2022) Wedlake Bell appointed new family partner Matthew Brundson-Tully from Forsters where he had been a partner since 2019. Mr Brundson-Tully will also be head of family ADR and innovation at Wedlake Bell and is also current vice-chair of Resolution's pensions, tax and financial committee.

8. (29/04/2022) Mayfair-based law firm Forsters hired Alison Meek as a consultant in its contentious trusts and estates (CTE) practice. Ms Meek - who begat at the firm from 3 May - joined the team from boutique London law firm Sinclair Gibson where she was a partner and head of its CTE team.

9. (21/04/2022) London law firm Farrer & Co made 12 partner promotions, including seven fee-earners and (subject to completion of ABS conversion) all of the firm’s business services’ directors and CFO. The seven new fee earning partners include four former eprivateclient Top 35 Under 35s with the 12 appointments representing a record uptake in partnerships for the firm.

10. (06/04/2022) Macfarlanes appointed a new private client specialist among its eight newly promoted partners. Charlie Maydon Grace advises international families, trustees and family offices on a wide range of tax, trust law, HMRC enquiries and estate planning issues and was recently seconded by Bermuda-based firm Conyers, where she worked on trust and litigation matters, often with a US focus.
