Twitter libel cases - does it matter if the tweet was based on a misunderstanding?

It has been reported that Countdown’s Rachel Riley has sued Labour Party Complaints Chief Laura Murray over tweets after the pair became involved in an on-line spat this year.

According to the Sunday Times, Ms Riley, who is Jewish and has become a campaigner against anti-Semitism, retweeted a post by a left wing commentator about Corbyn being egged during a visit to a Mosque. The post said “if you don’t want eggs thrown at you, don’t be a Nazi.  Seems fair to me”. Ms Riley commented “sound advice”.
