Woman left stranded in loveless marriage as Court of Appeal refuses divorce

A Court of Appeal decision has left an estranged wife “stranded in a miserable situation” and showed how “archaic” English divorce law now is, according to Brett Frankle, a partner in the family team at law firm Withers.

On Friday last week (24/03/2017), the Court of Appeal in London handed down its decision in Owens v Owens, declining to grant Tini Owens permission to divorce her husband by upholding the High Court\'s decision that current divorce legislation could not allow it.
