The Cayman Islands is set to be added to the European Union’s (EU) list of non-cooperative tax jurisdictions, otherwise known as the EU tax havens blacklist, according to the Financial Times.
If added, it will become the first UK overseas territory to make the list, timed as the UK left the EU two weeks ago (31 January).
The EU did not comment on their decision as it is not yet official. Instead, a spokesperson told eprivateclient: "The EU listing process is a Council-led exercise. EU Finance Ministers will evaluate the situation at the ECOFIN next Tuesday, 18 February."
