HMRC tax investigation take jumps 22 percent

HMRC collected a record high of over £39 billion from tax investigations in the year to December 31 2023, up 22 percent from £32 billion in 2022, data from UHY Hacker Young has revealed.

Nikhil Oza, a corporate tax partner at UHY Hacker Young, said HMRC has stepped up its investigations into areas where it believes it is missing out on large amounts of unpaid tax, including:
