House prices rise to over eight times average disposable income

The Office of National Statistics has revealed that UK house prices were up to over eight times the average annual disposable household income in 2021.

In England, the average home sold was 8.7 times the average annual household disposable income, while in Wales it was six times more, and 5.5 times more in Scotland.

Affordability ratios for the average home in England were worse than any point since these records began in 1999.
