The German government has returned three artworks to a descendant of French-Jewish collector Armand Dorville, who owned them until his death in occupied France in 1941. Mr Dorville's heirs sold the pictures at auction in Nice in 1942, under pressure from the Vichy government's anti-Semitic laws. That buyer is now unknown, but it is thought the proceeds of the sale were confiscated by the regime. The rightful ownership of the works has been in dispute since 2012.
