UK legislation enables pre-arrest crypto asset freezing

New UK legislation allows courts and law enforcement authorities to freeze cryptoassets of alleged criminals before an arrest has been made.

More broadly the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act, which received Royal Assent on 26 October, will also provide enhanced powers to Companies House, widen courts' ability to dismiss economic crime-related SLAPP lawsuits and expand instances where a prosecutor can pursue a company for corporate malpractice.
