Bank of England makes 'lacklustre’ rate hike

The Bank of England has made its fifth consecutive interest rate rise, bringing rates to 1.25 percent.

However, given the US Federal Reserve’s hike from 1 percent to 1.75 percent yesterday (15/06/22), the BoE’s 0.25 percentage point increase looks rather “lacklustre”.

Not all Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) members were happy with the decision. Three members voted for a steeper 0.5 percent rise.
