British public companies and pension funds may have to disclose climate change related risks

The UK government plans to introduce a mandatory requirement for public companies and pension funds to disclose the climate change-related risks they face by 2022.

The green finance strategy, published on Tuesday (2 July), set out plans to tackle climate change and environment protection by "transforming the financial system for a greener future".

The government report stated that the financial sector needed be at the centre of changes required to meet the net zero emissions goal by 2050, which Britain legislated, becoming the first G7 country to do so.
