C. Hoare stars in a good year for the City’s rich listers

Venerable private banking family C. Hoare saw its worth rise a respectable £40 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List for 2019.

The bank, which showed a £33 million increase in net assets to £325 million, pays the family, represented by Alexander, the 11th generation to sit on the board, an annual dividend of just £6,000.

The list, which estimates the worth of the 1,000 richest people and families in the UK, is based on identifiable wealth including land, property, other assets such as art, and shares in companies.
