Coutts wins case against woman banker in 'unspoken sexism' claim

Coutts banker Donna Ball, 53, who turned out to be paid more than all but one of her male colleagues in her commercial banking team, has lost her £400,000 sexism claim against her employer. 

Ms Ball, an associate director, had every one of her complaints rejected by a London tribunal panel, in what is regarded as damning rebuff for the banker.

Ms Ball had claimed she was underpaid and blocked from promotion to director level because of sexist male managers at Coutts. She told the tribunal she had been denied equal pay since 2013 in what she alleged was the latest case of “sexism in the City”.
