Crazy rich Asians – and their crazy rich advisers

The current ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ movie, where a Chinese-American professor travels to meet her boyfriend's family to discover they are among the richest in Singapore, just about captures the current mood in Asia – the swelling nouveau riches of the region are spending like never before and living a stratospheric high life.

Their advisers are not doing too bad either. Experienced private bankers are reported to be winning pay rises of between 30 and 45 percent when they move to rival firms, in a renewed merry-go-around of job hopping in Singapore and other regional centres.
