Friends tell us we simply must catch the National Theatre’s splendid tour of Shakespeare’s bloody tragedy, Macbeth. The play’s current run in the provinces is laudably being sponsored by Lloyds Private Bank. 

As we all know, the Scottish play tells of Macbeth and his bloody rise to become King of Scotland. Encouraged by his wife, Macbeth in pursuit of the crown kills the incumbent king, becomes the new ruler and offs yet more people out of gibbering paranoia. Civil war then erupts, Macbeth is overthrown, resulting in yet more death.

But perhaps not quite as gory as current Brexit politics at Westminster.
