Lars Kalbreier

Edmond de Rothschild has hired ex-Vontobel chief investment officer Lars Kalbreier as the CIO of its global private banking business.

Mr Kalbreier will supervise all of the asset management activities, both discretionary management and investment advisory, for the private bank.

He will also be in charge of determining and implementing the asset allocation strategy and developing innovative investment solutions dedicated to our private clients.

Mr Kalbreier is a CFA charterholder and holds an MBA from University of Cambridge and an MSc in Management from the HEC business school in Lausanne.

Since 2017, he has been global CIO for wealth management and head of group thematic investments at Vontobel in Zurich. He spent most of his professional life at Credit Suisse, where he successively held senior positions from 2002.

He began his career in 1997 at JP Morgan in London, first as a portfolio manager and then as an equity strategist.

Christophe Caspar, EdR's head of asset management said: "We are pleased and proud to welcome Lars Kalbreier. We are counting on his expertise in private banking and asset management to provide our clients with strong added value in the management of their portfolios.

"His long experience at major international financial institutions and on multicultural management teams represents an additional advantage in an industry that is undergoing a deep transformation."

Vontobel announced earlier this month that Dan Scott would replace Mr Kalbreier, who is leaving the wealth and asset manager following three years of service to pursue other opportunities.

Mr Scott previously acted as deputy CIO and head of the investment office, having joined Vontobel in 2017. He formerly worked for Credit Suisse and Kepler Equities and has more than 20 years’ experience in capital markets.
