Equal Pay Day: Covid crisis sets women back half a decade

The Covid crisis could set women back half a decade financially and in terms of career progression, according to McKinsey. And today is Equal Pay Day – the day the average woman in the UK effectively stops earning for the year, compared to the average man.

However, while the day is a useful marker of financial inequality, “the focus on salary is no longer sufficient,” Jeanette Makings, head of financial education at Close Brothers, warned.
