Santander UK has confirmed its new chairman will be investment banking boffin and former envoy to Theresa May, William Vereker.
Mr Vereker joins Santander’s UK board on 1 October and takes over from chair Shriti Vadera on 1 November. Ms Vadera is leaving to become chair of Prudential.

Board member Scott Wheway, now chairman of Centrica, is also leaving the bank and a search for his successor is underway.
