Frozen thresholds lead to record breaking £7.1bn IHT take

Inheritance tax (IHT) receipts from April 2022 to March 2023 were £7.1 billion, £1 billion more than the same period a year earlier.

The increase can be attributed to increasing property wealth, higher numbers of wealth transfers and the UK government’s decision to freeze the £325,000 nil rate band until at least April 2028, tax specialists have said.
