It looks increasingly likely that the Democrats will gain control of the Senate, as both Georgia challengers edged ahead of their opponents this morning.
Raphael Warnock became the first Georgia democrat elected to the Senate earlier today (6 January), while fellow candidate and challenger Jon Ossoff is narrowly ahead of Republican incumbent David Perdue.
This means Democrats will have effective control of both House and Senate, in a so-called ‘blue sweep’.
