Coronavirus will lead to a growing gap between the rich and poor, as those in white collar work continue to earn while others lose their jobs or suffer pay decreases, a personal finance analyst says.

Once tax and benefits were taken in consideration, in 2019 the highest-earning fifth of the population in the UK earned 3.8 times the more than the poorest fifth, up from 3.5 times a year earlier, according to ONS statistics.
