Investment management legend and PAM Lifetime Achievement Award winner dies

It is with regret that thewealthnet must report the death of Peter Stormonth Darling, one of the very few individuals to have won a PAM Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mr Stormonth Darling, best-known for his role in overseeing the growth and development of Mercury Asset Management, one of the few UK asset management companies of any consequence during the last decade of the twentieth century, died on 16 September aged 86.

Like many of his generation and background Mr Stormonth Darling came over as a mild and self-effacing man.

The reality was, however, that he had a backbone of steel.
