Paul Myners, who died on 16 January, will probably best be remembered as a very successful chief executive and chairman of an investment management firm (Gartmore), an advocate of good corporate governance, and the author of a UK government sponsored report that had a significant impact on the pensions fund sector generally and the management and oversight of defined benefit schemes in particular.

However, Lord Myners wide ranging career also encapsulated private wealth management.
