Malta sees 157 percent increase in Suspicious Transaction Reports

Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) increased by 157 percent in Malta in 2019.

Malta’s Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) - tasked with monitoring compliance with AML/CFT legislation - received 2,778 STRs in 2019, representing a 157 percent increase from 2017 and a 65 percent increase over 2018.
