Philip Howell retires after doubling Rathbones client assets

Philip Howell officially retires as the chairman of Rathbones this afternoon, following six years in the job where the firm’s assets under management more than doubled.

Mr Howell officially passes the reins to his successor Paul Stockton, presently group finance director, at the investment manager’s AGM this afternoon (9 May).

When Mr Howell joined Rathbones in 2013 as deputy chief executive, he was already known as a consummate dealmaker from his time at Barclays, Fortis Private Banking (now BNP Paribas Fortis) and Williams de Broë (now part of Investec).
