Quilter has launched an inheritance tax (IHT) calculator on its online platform that will allow advisers to calculate clients' potential inheritance tax liabilities and model the impact of lifetime gifts on this payment.

The introduction of the tool follows an increase in IHT liabilities with almost 4 percent of deaths resulting in an IHT liability, the Institute for Fiscal Studies estimated that this number would rise to 7 percent over the next decade.
