The collateral consequences of the Criminal Finances Act

Passed in the wake of the Panama Papers scandal, it is coming up to two years since the Criminal Finances Act 2017 came into force.

One purpose of the Act was to target HNWs with offshore accounts and associated persons or companies who may be facilitating the evasion of tax. However the Act was also the UK Government's response to accusations that the UK was a haven for dirty money and the spate of terrorism attacks at the time.
