It should come as no surprise to anyone that has witnessed the near-stratospheric price rises of wines produced in Burgundy in recent years.
But the region continues to dominate the lists of the 100 most expensive red and white wines compiled by Schweizerische Weinzeitung, a Swiss wine magazine.
Indeed only three non-Burgundian wines featured in the Top 100 red wines: Le Pin 1982 (Pomerol), Screaming Eagle 1992 (California) and Domaine Jean Louis Chave Ermitage Cathelin 1990 (Rhone).
