Following yesterday’s inflation figures remaining stubborn at 8.7 percent, the Bank of England (BoE) has raised interest rates by 0.5 percentage points to 5.0 percent.
This contrasts with the US Federal Reserve which paused rates at 5.0 percent last week. However, US inflation is less than half the rate of that in the UK at 4.0 percent.
