The wealthy’s preferred alternative investments

The value of alternative investments, such as classic cars, watches and jewellery has increased significantly, says auction aggregator Barnebys.

Barnebys monitors a database of what is selling around the world for record prices and tracking sales of art, antiques and collectables from their 2,000 auction clients in Europe, Asia and the USA.

Firstly, the number of classic cars sold at auction every year continues to rise. These are actually a better long-term investment than art and show a progression of 334 percent over the past ten years, according to Knight Frank’s 2018 wealth report.
