Tidjane Thiam departs: 'It’s not my job to make myself indispensable'

Credit Suisse’s outgoing chief executive has not ruled out a return to politics, saying yesterday that he intended to get some rest and spend time with his family before adding “we will see” when quizzed on his plans for the future.

Tidjane Thiam, 57, leaves the top job at Credit Suisse today following a five-year tenure, in which he oversaw a dazzling turnaround in performance at the bank, before being ousted by the board over a scandal involving the surveillance of two of the bank’s employees.
