UBS cuts reliance on carbon-related assets

UBS said it had deployed $488 billion in client funds towards sustainable assets, as it gave an update on its sustainability performance this week.

Sustainable assets accounted for 13.5 percent of invested assets at the end of 2019.

The Swiss bank said of this, $3.9 billion had gone towards “impact” investments relating to the United Nations' sustainable development goals. The bank had set itself a goal of 45 billion by the end of 2021.

Carbon-related assets on the balance sheet were worth $1.9 billion, or 0.8 percent of the total, down 40 percent year-on-year.
