UK crime fighters obtain their second unexplained wealth order against ‘foreign official’

The National Crime Agency has obtained its second unexplained wealth order (UWO) to freeze three London homes, worth about £80 million, owned by an unnamed foreign official.

The National Crime Agency has demanded that the subject of the investigation, described a “politically exposed person“ explains the source of the assets involved.

The homes, held by offshore companies, cannot be sold or given a new owner until the investigation is over.

The UWOs were granted at the High Court last week.

They are a new anti-financial crime weapon targeted at foreign government officials from outside the Europ...
