UK’s newest private bank searches for new chairman

Edinburgh and London-based Hampden & Co, the UK’s newest private bank, has announced the retirement of Alan Hughes, its chairman.

He is replaced on an interim basis by Alex Hammond-Chambers.

Mr Hughes joined the Hampden & Co board as deputy chairman in 2014 following a long career in banking, most notably at First Direct, where he was chief executive. He is also a former board director of HSBC.
