US inflation drops but rate hikes still likely

US inflation fell by a whole percentage point in March from 6.0 percent to 5.0 percent.

This reading “at the very least confirms that US inflation is softening, even if not as quickly as the US Federal Reserve (Fed) would like."

Ryan Brandham, head of global capital markets, North America at Validus Risk Management, explained: “US economic data has softened of late, which will please the Fed, and this latest release does nothing to dent that market theme.”
